There are many reasons why we love to travel: to relax, to explore new places, to enjoy breathtaking views… and, of course, to taste the traditional dishes of each region.
In this regard, gastronomy is one of Spain’s strong points, and Valencia is no exception.
In our case, I would say that “Valencians don’t live on paella alone.” We have excellent fresh produce from both the sea and the grovees, and we have great chefs, some of whom are unknown, in the many bars and restaurants around the city.
And then there’s the setting, the location or building where we eat, the service, the ceremony… all of this and more combine to create the complete dining experience.
That said, price is a decisive factor. Although there are sometimes pleasant surprises, in general, you don’t get something for nothing. For this reason, in the 25-50 euros range, you can have a great gastronomic experience, which is a mix of good ingredients, good cooking, creativity, and a beautiful or iconic setting. And for this price range, here are some recommendations in Valencia’s historic centre.
1. Blanqueríes, creative Mediterranean cuisine
A classic restaurant in Valencia, very close to the imposing Serrano Towers, the most important gateway to the city for centuries.

2.- Alma del Temple, dining alongside the Arab wall.
Undoubtedly, a beautiful and historic location that will transport you to another time as you dine beside one of the few remaining sections of the 12th-century Arab wall in the city.
As for the food, this restaurant’s cuisine combines tradition and the value of time in the kitchen with quality ingredients and the creativity of its young although experienced culinary team.

3.- Pelayo Gastro Trinquet, excellent food in a mythical place
A restaurant with excellent produce and great cooking (including various rice dishes), in a special setting: the facilities of the city’s most important “Trinquet,” where you can still watch games of this traditional local sport.
This restaurant is the only one on this list that is technically “outside the walls” of the old Christian wall, but only by a few metres.

4.- Vuelve Carolina, haute cuisine by Quique Dacosta
How about a journey through the world with one of Spain’s most renowned chefs? A trip with stops at dishes from various countries, reinterpreted through the creative lens of this great chef, who has earned 3 Michelin stars for one of his restaurants.
The restaurant is very close to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, and if you prefer, you can enjoy a more informal meal at the bar.
